Zoe Saldana was born on June 19, 1978 in Passaic, New Jersey, to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Her parents, Aridio and Asalia are both Puerto Ricans. She was born in Queens, New York. After she turned 10 years old, older her family and she were relocated to the Dominican Republic, where they lived for the next seven years. Zoe developed a passion to dance while within the Republic of Dominicana. Her first training was with the ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy, where she studied dance and various forms of dancing.
