Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her Winona in honor of her hometown. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors as well as editors. Ryder's father was from a Jewish family. Ryder thinks she's Jewish. Ryder has two half-siblings younger than her, Jubal and Sunyata. At the age of seven, Ryder was only seven her family moved into Mendocino County California. In Mendocino County, they did not have electricity. Ryder was a prolific reader due to the absence of television. Ryder began taking acting lessons in the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983, when she was 12 years old. Lucas was let go in 1986 and Ryder, then barely 15 years old, landed an acting job as a lead actress. Ryder was bullied at high school. Ryder was hopeful that her work as an actress could help. However, that didn't happen. However, she continued to pursue her ambitions. In 1988 she had her biggest break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to play successful roles in many movies. In 1993, she was awarded an Academy Award for The Age of Innocence.
